It snowed here in Germany last week.
Snowed. Before Thanksgiving.
My southern sensibilities cannot. They just can’t.
Because here’s the thing: I’m down with fall. I love changing leaves and cool breezes and boots and scarves and new winter coats. I’m even down with winter: bundling up before walking to the store, driving in a nice toasty car, Christmas, wonderlands, polar bears.
But.
I need four solid seasons. I need the unrelentless heat of summer. I need to sweat when I’m sleeping and experience the worst blow dry heat in the hot so my hair sticks to me when I’m done and not move from in front of a fan and drink refreshing iced tea. That way, when lovely autumn shows up with her cool breezes and dark mornings I’m excited to see her.
Wearing a scarf in the middle of summer because it keeps my neck warm and isn’t for fashion purposes only does my head in. Luckily, I made some hot chocolate mix to get me through the hard times.
